CE Course Description

Insurance protects individuals and businesses from the financial consequences of a major event—such as an accident, a natural disaster, a health problem, or the death of a wage earner. Without insurance, a single unexpected event could wipe out everything a person or organization has built—leading to bankruptcy, foreclosure, and financial disaster.

This classroom equivalent course gives a comprehensive overview of the insurance industry as a whole—with an in-depth look at Life and Health as well as Property and Casualty lines of insurance. Learn how the business works, your role as an agent or insurer, and typical coverage included in a wide range of policies. Topics covered in this course include:

  • Risk and insurable interest.
  • Insurance policy concepts.
  • Agents and insurers: licensing processes and unfair practices.
  • Life and health insurance.
  • Managed care, long-term care, and Medicare supplements.
  • Workers’ compensation.
  • Homeowners’ insurance.
  • Auto insurance.
